There are two key measurements of planetary motion: around and up-and-down. More attention is placed on the around motion. A planet’s position in the 360 degrees of the zodiac (12 signs of 30 degrees each) is called zodiacal longitude. The zodiac belt also has a width defined by the Sun’s apparent path around the earth (called the ecliptic) and related to the earth’s 23°27’ tilt on its axis relative to the Sun. The up-and-down motion is called declination and is expressed as degrees and 60s of a degree (minutes) above called North (often depicted with a + sign) or below called South (using a – sign) of the center line, which is the celestial equator. Picture the earth’s equator projected out into space and the boundary lines of the tropics of Cancer and Capricorn, the highest lowest perimeters of the Sun’s direct light hitting earth, its extremes coming at the Cancer and Capricorn solstices and the middle points at the spring and autumn equinoxes.
The Sun, Moon and all the planets gradually rise and fall as they go around. Often the Moon and sometimes the planets ride higher or lower in the sky than the Sun’s path. Such an “out of bounds” planet doesn’t play by the rules, going too far – way beyond the norm – in whatever the planet represents.
Here are the dates and descriptions for planetary “out of bounds” in 2019:
Mercury [1/2 – 1/18, 5/26 – 6/17 & 12/22 – 1/12/20] We over-think situations or speak too little or too much. Instruments and communication devices may not work correctly.
Venus [11/14 – 12/13] There’s too much love or not enough, or it stems from the wrong reasons. Fiscal matters may be grossly out of balance, such as a decrease in income or increase in expenses.
Mars [4/20 – 6/12] People are more rash, impatient, selfish or angry than usual. Skirmishes escalate. Energy levels are off the scale.
Ceres [9/14 – 2/18/20] (When Ceres goes out of bounds, sometimes it’s for a very long time and WAY far out of bounds!) The maternal instinct is weak or applied inappropriately, perhaps to an extreme expressed as smother love or “helicopter” mothering. We might try to reap what is not ours or we may miss getting what we deserve.
Dates for the Moon are not listed because this occurs frequently.
