Maybe it’s because I have Jupiter Retrograde in Taurus (translation: a planet of excesses requiring relearning of lessons about the love of the senses), but it seems like each time the Moon (the heavenly body in charge of eating and the stomach) passes by Jupiter in the sky, I overeat. Now I’ve decided I should mark my calendar so that when this occurs I can try to prevent endless repetition of this bad habit. Since anyone can be subject to urges to pig out when the Moon conjuncts Jupiter, I wanted to share this list with others. Here are those dates: (late 2008 through 2009): 12/1/08 (with Venus nearby - beautiful!), 12/29/08; in 2009 - 1/25, 2/22, 3/22, 4/19, 5/17, 6/13, 7/10, 8/6, 9/2, 9/29, 10/27, 11/23 and 12/21. It’s not a bad idea to be cautious the day before or after these dates, too. The strongest of these times is likely to be 1/25/09 since it’s near a New Moon Solar Eclipse, thus coloring the month to follo - maybe even as much as 6 months! (Visually, the just-past-Full Moon closeby big bright Jupiter is gorgeous to view in the night sky at the 8/6 conjunction.)

And why stop at the Moon conjunct Jupiter? After spending a good deal of a Saturday purging my apartment of stuff that should have gone to the trash long ago - doing so with the help of the Moon going through Scorpio (the sign of getting rid of what’s no longer needed) - it occurred to me that you might want to know good times for that, too. I don’t get motivated to go through the piles very often, but I do try to make myself do it once a month when the Moon gives a push in that direction for a couple days. These dates from late 2008 through 2009 are about a week before those dates listed above.

Our Moon list should include optimum times for something else Moon-related, too – habits. New habits are best begun just after a New Moon. The best New Moon each year for sticking to new habits is generally the Taurus New Moon. In 2009, that will be on 4/24. Other New Moons from late 2008 through 2009 are 12/27/08; 1/26/09 (Eclipse), 2/24, 3/26, 4/24, 5/24, 6/22, 7/21 (Eclipse), 8/20 (Eclipse), 9/18 , 10/17, 11/16, 12/1 and 12/31 (Eclipse). Eclipses are the strongest kind of New Moon and indicate times for BIG changes.

New Moon, Full Moon and Eclipse dates are listed in my Janet's Plan-its Calendars, or you can download my free 2009 On a Page pdf file.
