THE SIGNS IN LOVE

Which signs are ideal for you for romance? What do you seek in a mate? What are your best and worst traits in a relationship? Janet outlines the zodiac’s amorous indications and upcoming dates to aim Cupid’s arrows.

MERCURY RETROGRADE

This quick-moving planet appears to back up every 3-½ months for 3 weeks, wreaking havoc in thinking and communications, and impacting people born then. Janet looks at famous people’s charts (like Monica Lewinsky and Prince) and historic events (like JFK, Jr.’s death and the 2000 elections). She also outlines the next bouts of Mercury Retrograde.

THE MAGIC OF THE INVISIBLE

Magic is at work around us all the time, even though we can’t physically “see” it. The sign for the time of year you were born (your “sun sign”) is just the tip of the astrological iceberg. We’ll look at all the signs and then go beyond sun signs to examine your moon sign (determined by your day and year of birth) and your “rising sign” (determined by your exact minute of birth). These three signs are like your “astrological initials” and describe you much more personally. There are 1,728 different combinations - not that we’ll discuss each of these! No special background is required to learn how your signs help make you the unique individual you are. People who have not examined astrology have a hard time believing it offers anything valuable. Scientists continually heap disdain on the study of the stars. Janet will address common misconceptions about astrology and respond to typical criticisms like: · Why does astrology split the population into 12 groups and make generalizations about them? · The planets are so far away from us, how can they possibly have any affect on us? · There is no "proof" that astrology "works." · The zodiac has changed and astrology hasn't. THE VERTEX - COSMIC APPOINTMENTS

In the western part of the sky is a "secondary descendant" called the Vertex (symbol: V or Vx). It shows the involvement of others in one's life - with a quality of "beyond one's control." Janet's been keeping an eye on the V in the sky since the late '70s and will share her findings, drawing upon numerous examples from her chart files and the lives of famous people. She'll illustrate the significance of the Vertex's natal house position and aspects, and influences associated with progressions or transits to or from this important chart point, which is active in many accident and event charts, and serves as a great tool in synastry.

RETROGRADES: TIME TO REVIEW AND RE-DO

All but 9% of the population are born with at least one planet in apparent backward (retrograde) motion. Most of us have a need to relearn lessons in certain areas as presented by these retrograde planets. In addition, each transiting planet (with the exception of the Sun and Moon) retrogrades on a regular basis bringing us opportunities to review and re-do. In this lecture, Janet will examine the meanings of the retrograde planets, natally and by progression and transits, the impact of the degrees where direction of motion changes ("stations") and how to work with the aspects made during the retrograde periods. She will share her 'Retrograde Calendar," which she developed in 1986, as a handy one-page tool for gathering important transit information.

THE FINGER OF GOD – A DIVINE DETOUR

 

Sometimes the planets form a triangle pattern called the Finger of God (also known as a Yod), showing areas in our life where we detour off the path we thinking we’re consciously choosing. We’re not sure if God is pointing the way or showing us a different finger! Janet explains the components of such triangles, an aspect of mismatched energies called the quincunx or inconjunct. Using famous examples as well as the charts submitted by participants, we’ll explore ways to get the best out of this combination. (Note: not all charts have this pattern.)

PAST LIFE INDICATIONS

The South node is suspected of telling us about our past lives and relationships, so of course we'll examine this important chart point by sign, by house and by aspect. But what other clues do we have to your prior incarnations? We'll take a peak at Astro *Carto*Graphy and geodetic degrees, and we'll look beyond the astrological areana to some possibly surprising but revealing suggestions.

SYNASTRY AND THE ASTROLOGY OF RELATIONSHIPS

What is the chemistry that brings a couple together and the glue that holds them in a relationship? SYN is Greek for together; ASTR = the stars.  Janet examines the stars together of two charts, usually for two people, but also useful for families, groups, and pets and their owners. Using numerous example charts, we’ll cover the indications of personal planets and chart points in relationships, as well as how to use techniques of chart comparison, including composite charts. We’ll touch on the time of the first encounter, the Vertex and the Arabic “Part of Marriage.” Janet will share the surprising findings of statistical studies of couples' charts done by the AstroInvestigators, research in which she assisted as part of Alphee Lavoie's group.
