Janet's Chart

About Janet Booth

After receiving a BA in Behavioral Studies from Drew University, Janet became enamoured of astrology. She studied with local astrologers (primarily Capel McCutcheon and Alphee Lavoie), joined astrological associations, attended conferences, read many books and lots of charts! She began her professional practice part-time in 1979 and went full-time in 1999. In the interim, she passed the qualifying exam for Professional Astrologers, Inc. in 1984. In 2004, Janet incorporated as Astrology Booth, LLC.

She has taught astrology at all levels, beginner to advanced, and lectured to the public as well as to professional astrologers, appearing on radio and television and quoted in the press. Since 1986, she has published a tool for astrologers (Janet's Plan-Its Retrograde Calendar) and in 2001 she added a "layman's" forecast calendar (Janet's Plan-Its Astrological Calendar). Over the years, Janet has served the Astrological Society of Connecticut in a variety of roles, including as President 1999-2001. She is currently on their board of directors again. With a background in comedy and community theater, it was a natural progression when in 2000, she began producing and hosting a show on astrology called "Looking Up" on West Hartford Community Television (only available in West Hartford, CT).

Janet counsels from a humanistic/holistic perspective, with an emphasis on self-awareness and self-actualization as well as integration into the world at large. Her goal is to help people toward living as a whole - each of us individually and all of us collectively as a whole people.

Janet is renowned for her thoroughness in examining all the details of astrology's complexities and then cutting through to the heart of the matter.

There are many ways Janet's chart shows that she makes a good astrologer.
sun bullet Her Libra Sun sign makes her a real "people person," able to put herself in another person's shoes.
sun bulletHer Pisces Moon brings sensitivity and sometimes a psychic impression or two, although she does not "bill" herself as a psychic. (She relies on the tool of the ancient art and modern science of astrology, which she wields well.)
sun bulletHer Virgo Rising lends an ability to analyze charts and find practical uses for her clients' planetary indications.
sun bulletUranus, the planet ruling astrology, is in her career house, and Aquarius, the sign associated with Uranus and astrology, is at her employment/service house.
sun bulletMercury, the planet of communications, stands between the Sun on one side, bringing a creative approach and a sunny outlook, and Saturn on the other side, adding clarity and precision to her readings.
sun bulletMercury is also in a special talent connection to Jupiter, the planet of higher wisdom and spreading information far and wide, accounting for her writing and teaching, and even this web site!

Now, want to hear something really freaky? There is an "asteroid belt" between Mars and Jupiter, a swath of thousands of tiny planetoids (it's as if cosmic debris had not coalesced into a planet or perhaps a planet was smached to smithereens). Astronomers assign names to them and, consistent with synchronicity, these named asteroids often show up in significant positions in the charts of people, places and events. There isn't an asteroid Janet, but there is a Janhoet, and there's a Booth. The day I was born, these two asteroids were travelling at the same degree of the zodiac, and at the exact minute and place I was born. there were rising at the same degree as my Ascendant. (This is the degree of the zodiac rising at the time and place of one's birth, a chart point which is very time- and place-sensitive, changing a degree every few minutes.) It was like, being born then and there, I had to be named Janet Booth, OR to be a Janet Booth being born there, I needed to be born right that minute. My parents had discussed calling me Nancy up until a week before I was born (including a false start trip to the hospital) but then a friend of theirs wrote suggesting my name be Janet Elizabeth Booth, which would give me the initials JEB, which I've always loved.
